Who We Are
A New York City–based interpreting service built on professional excellence, deep respect for the Deaf community, and an unwavering commitment to communication access.
Our Mission
RP Sign Language Services was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that every Deaf and hard-of-hearing person deserves to communicate fully, freely, and with dignity — in every setting, in every conversation.
We serve hospitals, schools, courtrooms, businesses, social service agencies, libraries, and virtual platforms across all five New York City boroughs — bringing qualified, professional ASL interpreters to the moments that matter most.
Our interpreters are not just skilled linguists — they are advocates for access, trained professionals who understand the weight of the work they do and the communities they serve.
Credentials & Qualifications
Every interpreter we place meets rigorous professional and legal standards. Here's what that means in practice.
Our interpreters hold active membership with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), the national professional association setting the standard for sign language interpreting in the United States.
Many of our interpreters hold the NIC (National Interpreter Certification) or CI/CT credentials issued by RID — demonstrating mastery of both interpreting skill and professional ethics.
All interpreters on our team meet the legal standard of a "qualified interpreter" under the ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act — able to interpret effectively, accurately, and impartially.
Beyond core certification, our interpreters pursue ongoing professional development in specialized settings including healthcare, legal, mental health, and educational interpreting.
Professional Ethics
All RP Sign Language Services interpreters adhere to the RID Code of Professional Conduct — upholding confidentiality, impartiality, professional discretion, and respect for all parties in every assignment.
Our Team
Our interpreters are New Yorkers who understand the city's communities, cultures, and the diverse needs of the people we serve. We bring not just language skill, but genuine cultural competency to every assignment.
We work across all five boroughs and are available for in-person assignments as well as remote interpreting via Zoom, Google Meet, Webex, and Microsoft Teams.
What Guides Us
We approach every assignment with empathy — recognizing that the conversations we interpret often carry deep personal significance.
We uphold the RID Code of Professional Conduct in every engagement: confidentiality, impartiality, and professional discretion.
We believe communication access is a civil right. Our work is rooted in the conviction that every person deserves to participate fully in their own life.
We hold ourselves to the highest professional standards — in preparation, skill, and the ongoing pursuit of growth as interpreters.
